Here is our Story of the week. An aspiring weaver:- Suvarna Thakarey.
“I like to work because this work gives me respect from society and gives me confidence”.
Said Suvarna a weaver.
She lives in a small village called Nagthana near Wardha city with her parents. She belongs to a lower-middle-class family. In her family, there are three members including her.
She completed her high school education from a government school in a village. But due to financial limitations within the family, she had to quit education and started helping her mother at home.
But after some days, she felt that if she could do some work and earn a little so that she can provide a small contribution to the family.
Her father has an orthodox mindset about women working and earning but her mother completely supported her and they both convinced her father. Now she got confused about which work she does and then she got the knowledge from her friends that a small foundation called “VANDANA” gives training of the weaving process. After the successful completion of training, she joined our weaving section and started working.
And now after 7 months of work, her father is happy with her progress. She says that work gives her a sense of responsibility and she wants to earn more money by doing hard work.
